From Ron When I first started my website and newsletter, I could pretty much go out and hear the blues from Wednesday thru Saturday, sometimes in more than venue a night. However, over the last year or so, the number of places offering the blues weekly has been reduced to zero now that The Logan Inn no longer has blues performers on Wednesdays. There are still some places that have blues performers once or twice a month, but I suspect that soon those places will drop live performers altogether. When I ask venue managers and owners why they stop, the answer is almost always the same-"economics-the performers don't bring in enough customers to cover the cost of the band". I may think that's it's short-sighted, but they have a point. I have over 550 subscribers and less than 10% go out on a regular basis. I see several hundred people spend $30-50 to see Buddy Guy or Keb' Mo' but they won't spend $10-20 to see local performers who will put on just as good a show as the more well-known performers. Our local performers play and put out CDs because they love the music. But how much longer do you think they'll be able to do that if the fans don't come out to see them? Not very long I'm sure.
Please continue to support the local musicians. Remember, no fans- no venues; no venues-no performers.
You can check out my website or see the list below to see who's playing and when and where. If you know of a performance that I don't have, please let me know.
Don't forget to check out my blues show(Cadillac Blues) Saturday nights from 6-7PM broadcast from JAZZON2 at Mercer County Community College. You can hear it at 89.1(HD2 only),on the Internet(click HERE) or possibly on your cable system if they offer a MCCC channel. Local performers will be played regularly. The college does not have a blues collection, so if you have any CDs, cassettes or albums (sorry, no 8-tracks) you want to donate, please let me know.
As always, if you have any suggestions or comments or if you know of any blues activities, please let me know.

CD
The CD didn't win a Grammy, but here's some comments. "It's so good, it should be nominated for an Emmy!" "If you can take only 1 CD to a deserted island, this is the one!" "It should be a part of the Guitar Hero video game!"
